Privacy policy

Your foot photos never leave your device. Free designs are deleted 15 days after you make them, except designs shown in the public gallery, which keep only their style and picture. Paid designs are kept in My shoes until you delete your account. Stripe handles payments; we never see your card.

Who we are

heelo makes 3D-printable shoe files fitted to your feet. Contact: [contact email to be added].

Foot photos

• Photos of your foot tracings and side photos are read and measured inside your own browser. They are never uploaded to us.
• We remove the photo's hidden data (location, camera, date) as soon as you open it, and the photo is gone when you close the page.

What we store when you make shoes

• The settings of your design (shoe type, sole thickness, heel lift, fit changes).
• The foot measurements needed to make your files again (foot length and widths, and the outline measured from your tracing). No photos.
• A small picture of the shoes and a title such as "Shoes, 6 mm sole".
• A random design number. A secret code for it is kept only in your browser, so only you can buy and download your files.
• When you buy: the email you give on Stripe's payment page, so your paid designs are saved in My shoes. We use it only to send sign-in codes and links to your files, never for advertising.
• Our web host keeps standard server logs (for example IP addresses) for a short time to run and protect the site.

Design chat

• When you type in the design chat, your messages, your shoe settings (shoe type, sole thickness, heel lift, fit changes) and the names of your decorations are sent to Anthropic, the company that runs the AI, to get an answer.
• Your own logo or picture is turned into outlines in your browser. The picture is never uploaded or sent to the AI; the outlines are saved with your design so it can be made and re-fitted, and are never shown to other visitors.
• Your foot size, foot measurements, tracing outline and photos are never sent to the AI.
• Your AI credit is kept with a random number in a cookie in your browser (or with your account when you are signed in). To stop people collecting free credit many times, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address with it.
• To limit how many chat messages each visitor sends per day, we count them using a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored.

How long we keep it

• Free designs: 15 days after you make one, we delete its foot measurements and its files can no longer be downloaded.
• Paid designs, with their foot measurements, are kept in My shoes until you delete your account, so you can download them again and re-fit them. You agree to this when you pay.
• When you delete your account on the My shoes page, we delete your email, your private designs and the foot measurements of all your designs.
• Sign-in codes are deleted after 2 days; a sign-in lasts 90 days in one browser.
• Designs you don't keep private may stay in the public gallery after 15 days with only their style, title and picture. Nothing in the gallery shows your foot measurements or photos.

Payments

Payments are made on Stripe's own payment page. Stripe receives your card and billing details; we receive only whether the payment went through. See Stripe's privacy policy.

With each payment we keep your confirmation that you are buying digital files and checked your printer size, the printer bed size you gave, and a record of each download of the paid files (time, browser type and a scrambled form of your IP address), to resolve payment disputes. These records are kept as long as the payment record.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site keeps a list of your design numbers and secret codes in your browser's storage, so you can download the files you paid for, and remembers that you closed the cookie notice. When you sign in to My shoes, a sign-in cookie keeps you signed in in that browser. A random-number cookie (heelo_v) keeps your AI credit for the design chat. Stripe's payment page sets its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

Your choices

Delete your account and its designs at any time on the My shoes page. To have a free design removed earlier, including from the gallery, write to us with its design number (it is in the web address of the page after payment). Children's shoes can be made by a parent or guardian; the site is not meant for children to use on their own.
